Dynamical Model Results
Data collected during a 4-day long survey in the Massachusetts Bay
by the R/V Lucky Lady and during the same period by Battelle Labs for the MWRA
has been combined with historical Gulf of Maine (GOM) data to provide an estimate
for the synoptic conditions during the period August 17-21, 1998. The estimate
has been used to initialize a primitive equation based dynamical model on 17 August.
Data is then assimilated on subsequent gathering days, using Optimal Interpolation.
Meteorological data has been acquired from the Fleet Numerical Meteorological and
Oceanographic Center in Monterey, CA and is used to force the model. Results are
presented for the time period 17 August - 1 September.
