A comparison of the SEPTR salinities and those of CTDs taken nearby (in both space and time) indicates that the SEPTR salinities are far lower than those of the ship-board CTD profiles. The temperatures measured by both instruments compare well, as seen in the first figure. However, the salinities (second figure) differ by 3-5 PSU. Those differences are subsequently reflected in density (third figure) and T/S (fourth figure).
