Below are comparisons of the IBCAO and Sandwell & Smith topographies in the regions where they overlap. Each small image is a link to a large comparison image for a given longitude range. The colors should be consistent within an image but differ from image to image. I haven't included difference comparisons, because the topographies are currently on slightly different grids.

Based on what I'm seeing, I'm tempted to join the 2 topography by simply applying µ T1 + (1-µ) T2 where µ linearly varies between 0 and 1 over the latitude range of the overlap. Before I go ahead and do that, I'll put the topographies on a common grid and look at the differences.
